The British Values
I have always had this feeling that my school is my second home but I could not imagine that I may visit a school that is actually in a house like structure! On my first Day visit to the three British schools of our cluster (FrithVille School, Gipsey Bridge Academy and New York School), the whole school bodies caught my attention: from outside to inside and with every detail included in the decoration.
The three schools were in a house-like building, giving the impression that you are not being in a "school" but rather at your second "home". The coziness of the space gives you a warm feeling that spreads positive vibes in all directions.
Wherever you move inside the building, you can receive positive and constructive messages; starting from the welcome wall that includes “Welcome” in different languages (Arabic welcome is coming soon!), to the bulletin board of the British Values, all the way to the tiny bits that are rich with how to be a better student socially, emotionally and for sure academically. It was very interesting to see the photos of my Lebanese students among the posters of the Zero Waste project in my partner school "Gipsy Bridge Academy". Students decorated the walls with their summer vacation destinations and with their international work in different projects. Wherever you lay your eyes, you can read a message, even in the playground, some signs were directing students to being a better friend and a good person.
Last but not least, the brick wall towards the door of the school was a very special station for me. This wall is built with the bricks made by every student who left the primary school to go and continue education in another school. This brick wall leaves a memory of ever student who lived in the school and his/her mind was shaped by the values and positive messages for a better life outside their second home :)
