A Day Well Spent.
We,the Lebanese cluster, visited three primary schools at Lincolnshire where we had the chance to meet amazing headteachers, active teachers and lovely kids.
At NewYork School, we attended a fabulous science class where Tony, an animal expert, came to the classroom with a set of marvelous creatures. We had the chance to touch and carry exotic wild animals.
Mixed feelings were shown on students' and teachers' faces too. Some were shocked and scared while other were enthusiastic and excited. What was astonishing is that we rarely have a chance to see such kinds of animals in our daily life as teachers or kids.
It's also interesting how Tony was able to capture students' attention and move around them doing his best to encourage each one to touch and interact with his unique animals. I didn't imagine that one day I am going to hold a snake or a spider with the palm of my hand without being scared but modelling how to do that encouraged us to do the same. That was clear from students' faces and the change of their facial expressions where they started to feel more comfortable and familiar with those creatures. The headteacher was a good supporter too; he encouraged the kids to carry the snake and other unique animals by doing that in a friendly way. We were all excited, shouting, interacting and showing our happiness and worries at the same time which made the classroom a reflection authentic learning. I guess none of us is going to forget the touch of the snake, the tickels of the spider and the tongue of the lizard.
An Unforgettable Day !!! An unforgettable experience!!
